*** September 12, 2017 UPDATE ***
After La Seismic’s presentation and Q&A at the 9/12 RCSD meeting, the seismic survey is back in progress and is still expected to be completed by the end of November. The trucks which produce the acoustic energy will be traveling through Rossmoor with the Sheriff Department providing traffic control escort for about 3 consecutive days toward the end of this period.
The links to the LA Seismic presntation made to the RCSD are below.

Rossmoor has been selected to participate in the 2017 Seismic Survey for the Los Angeles area. This phase of the survey will include 6,000 sensor sites in the Rossmoor, Seal Beach, Los Alamitos, and eastern Long Beach areas. There will be 290 sensors placed in Rossmoor parkways and the survey will be conducted by LA Seismic LLC.
The seismic survey process will begin shortly and continue through November.
There’s nothing you need to do for this survey. If your home has been selected as a survey site, you should receive a letter and brochure in the mail and someone from the project team could knock on your door to let you know that your home has been selected. Anyone coming to your door should have an orange vest and proper identification.
If your parkway is designated to have one of these sensors, the Survey Team will put a little paint dot on the curb marking the site and a marker or “survey nail” with green whiskers will be placed in the parkway (the portion of your yard between the sidewalk and the curb). This will mark the location of the sensor which will be planted at that spot. It is safe to mow through these whiskers. Thanks to Andrea King, we have a photo of the “whiskers” below.
The LA Seismic website is located here. You can review their presentation slides here from the 9/12 RCSD meeting here or watch Mr. Farmer’s presentation here (Mr. Farmer’s presentation begins at about the 2-minute mark and lasts about 25 minutes).
More information on the process and how the survey is performed is available in this brochure or by contacting LA Seismic.
